The Emperor's New Clothes?

She seems to be a sweet girl, Katie Melua, and she gets lots of radio play, awards and plaudits and she writes sweet songs, so is it only me who thinks she couldn't hit a note to save her life? The way she slides towards a note, like a baseball player sliding towards a base, I'm sorry but it sounds to me a bit like a dog (a cute one) howling. It actually causes me pain. What do you think?
Eva Cassidy (a truly talented singer) must be spinning in her grave.

Beverley Knight


Went to see Beverley Knight in concert at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. She has just an amazing voice and talent. As ever though, the sound engineers cranked up the amps so much that the sound was ringing in my ears, destroying the clarity, purity and subtlety of her voice and the music as they so often do for many artists. Just because they've knackered their own hearing, doesn't mean they should turn up the volume to their taste and knacker ours! BeverleyKnight.com
